Membership Matters

 An official welcome to Judith Burns from Sweet Adelines International.
And a big welcome to WHC Co-Directors 2016
Karen Wilmot and Ellyse Turner.
 And a 15yr badge for our brilliant Bass Pat Richardson - congratulations
 Its time to make it official and sign the Co-Directors Contract
The Co-directors agree to:
1.      Take a leadership role in the education and training of the Chorus in the art of barbershop singing.
2.      Attend all rehearsals and engagements, except by prior arrangement with the Team Coordinator.
3.      Show evidence of preparation for rehearsals by forward planning to achieve goals and deadlines for concerts,
 sing-outs and competition through the use of calendars, programs, taping schedules etc.
4.      Appoint and train members of the Music Team
5.      Consult with the Music staff in selecting chorus music, within budget restrictions, with the final decision
 being the Co-directors’
6.      Audition all prospective members and appraise their voices and musical abilities in consultation 
with the Music staff and thence to make recommendation to the Management Team.
7.      Recommend the appointment of any Assistant Director(s) to the Management Team for ratification.
8.      Train and mentor any Assistant Director(s) and provide opportunity for her/them to practice directing skills.
9.      Recommend the members of the Visual Team to the Management Team for ratification.
10.   Review/amend the choreography to enhance the musical product prior to its presentation to the Chorus.
11.   Provide opportunity for the Visual Team to teach the Chorus the skills required for performance.
12.   Help to promote Quartets, assist and train them whenever possible, and advise them on 
their readiness for public performance.
13.   Consult with the Team Coordinator should any situation arise concerning Chorus personnel which 
would interfere with the Co-directors fulfilling their contractual role.
14.   Consult with the Team Coordinator as required to maintain effective communication.
15.   Accept responsibility for the musical performance of the Chorus.
16.   If a difference of opinion should arise in any area of Chorus life, the Team Coordinator shall be consulted
 and, together with the Management Team, shall make a final decision if necessary.

Team Co-Ordinator Terri Pinkis signs the agreement on behalf of Chorus Members
Members of The Chorus agree to:
1.      Provide adequate rehearsal facilities
2.      Conduct themselves in a manner conducive to best practice during rehearsals.
3.      Make every effort to learn all chorus music and showmanship and strive for self-improvement in singing and performance.
4.      Support and respect the Co-directors’ role and co-operate and comply with the Co-directors’ instructions.
5.      Accept the decision of the Co-directors, who in consultation with the music staff, will assign riser placements.
6.      Refrain from talking on the risers.
7.      Accept the decision of the Co-directors regarding voice parts to achieve a balanced sound.
8.      Remain in the selected voice part. If, after consultation with the Co-directors, a member changes part, 
she agrees to learn the current repertoire in the new part.
9.      Refrain from public performances until the required standard of singing and choreography has been met. 
(Make riser recordings as requested and have these passed by the section leader before participating in a sing-out. 
(This clause can be over-ruled at the discretion of the Co-directors)
10.   Improve performance by participating in section rehearsals, quartets and PVI’s
11. Immediately bring any problem between members of the Chorus and/or Co-directors to the attention 
of a (Grievance) Welfare Officer. 
The matter will be discussed privately and confidentially and if necessary, the matter may then be referred
 to the Team Coordinator; this will only be done if private discussions did not result in a resolution, and only after consultation with the original parties.
