Saturday night's NOSTALGIA ... and introducing a NEW QUARTET

We watched past WHC performances and Retreat skits.
Everyone loved the synchronized swimming!
As part of our Nostalgia theme, Jan was presented with a
photobook containing lots of memories from her
ten years  as WHC director.
Thank you Jan!
We also had an audition for our newest quartet SOUNDBYTE
Lorraine, Liz, Alison and Debbie.
They sounded great - well done girls!
I apologise for the quality of the images - a photo of my computer scene.
I was concentrating of capturing them on video so missed a still shot.

Yummy dinner ...

I thoroughly enjoyed the HUGE lamb shanks
AND - the sticky date pudding.
And this was just the beginning.
Its a wonder we could sing after all the food we consumed.
But then we need energy don't we?

Congratulations

Firstly to Judith Shoobridge - here she is with Evelyn
being presented with her 10 year membership badge.
Well done.
And to LINDA PARKER
our SWEET ADELINE of the YEAR 2016.
This used to be known as the Quiet Achiever Award.
Many congratulations Linda for all that work you do
behind the scenes every week at chorus.
Terri writes .....
Eight years ago Linda was one of over 20 eager new members and joined the Lead
section of Wollongong Harmony Chorus to add singing to her list of life achievements
 – teacher, wife, mother and grandmother.
She also plays golf and attends gym regularly to keep fit and trim.
Linda earns many air traveller points as she is always jetting off to visit
her 2 daughters and their families interstate and to lend a hand to them where she can.
Linda helps keep the chorus wheels turning smoothly by doing those behind
the scenes but necessary jobs such as opening up the school hall that we use for
rehearsals each week. This is not a quick and easy job as gates and hall need to be
unlocked and alarms turned off. She then provisions the toilets with soap, towels and
paper and packs these all away again at the end of the evening.
She will always on hand to disassemble and store the risers away into our
storeroom as well.
Linda is an accomplished cook and continually makes jams, pickles and chutneys
from any type of fruit that she can lay her hands on to create many tasty varieties which
she donates to sell on our Chorus Trading Table adding a steady stream of income
to our coffers. Move over Betty Crocker!
Linda regularly and enthusiastically attends chorus rehearsals, sing-outs,
competitions, section practices and small group rehearsals and although a Lead
will learn Bari or Bass when needed.
Linda is always there to lend a hand doing any job needed whether asked or
just by volunteering, as she often has offering her skills at sewing when costumes
need to be made or revamped. Linda epitomises the character of a Sweet Adeline
‘Quiet Achiever’ – those wonderful ladies who don’t see themselves as leaders
or managers (movers & shakers) but who are the foundation blocks of every
Chorus – the workers.
We all appreciate her unflappably calm personality, her ready smile and her many talents
that make such a valuable contribution to Wollongong Harmony Chorus and
we take this opportunity to thank and congratulate Linda
as our Sweet Adeline of the Year for 2016.

Impromptu Flashmob ...

Passersby in the industrial area at Albion Park Rail on
Saturday 16th April would have wondered what was going on ....
These lovely ladies were not deterred by being 'locked out' of their planned mirror rehearsal.
They just took over the carpark across the road and had their rehearsal outdoors without the mirrors!
GO GIRLS ....

BBQ at Bunnings ...

We don't get the opportunity too often these days but
a BBQ at Bunnings is a great money spinner to boost the Chorus coffers
It can be FUN too!
Well the Basses can make anything fun eh?
Sue G sings bass sometimes!
