Membership Drive February 2010

We had a very busy day on Saturday 6th with two sessions to introduce prospective new to our Chorus.
We had a good roll up and they seemed to enjoy the singing and friendship we had to offer.

After an intoduction and talk from Jan and Jill we sang some our repetoire for them before we split into sections and learnt a 'tag' together. This then enabled our visitors to experience the thrill of singing in four part harmony with such a great group of ladies.
What a HUGE circle for 'How we Sang'!
The risers are pretty crowded now but it's great to get to know these new ladies as they return to rehearsals each week to learn more about Barbershop singing and about Wollongong Harmony Chorus.

Citizenship Ceremony at St Mary's

This was a very important day for the many participants who had decided to take out Australian Citizenship today.

We began the program by singing a bracket of Australian songs which included Waltzing Matilda, Click go the Shears and I am Australian.
Thanks to Pete for taking the photo's at such short notice - well done.

Some of the stayers managed to get a quick snap taken with the Australia Day Ambassador to Wollongong 2010 - Mr DICK SMITH.

AUSTRALIA DAY

We started our Australia Day commitments under a tree on "Buskers Corner" near Belmore Basin.

It was a VERY HOT day and we had some difficulty singing outside in Lange Park without microphones and against the accompanying sounds of the nearby side shows rides and radio announcements.

Singout at the Nan Tien Temple.

Posted by Picasa

Even though it was holiday time we managed a fair turn out to sing at the temple.
I'm told that the heavens opened with a MIGHTY storm but that our singing was appreciated by the audience in attendance.

And then there was the Christmas PARTY!

It sure looks as though we were all having a great time.
I can't guarantee that all those chords were matched!

Thanks Frances for having us at your place again.

Our first Christmas Singout - Kids Wish Foundation

It was only November but we brushed up on our carols and sang at the turning on of the lights on the Christmas tree of the Kids Wish Foundation at the WIN Entertainment Centre in Wollongong.

Santa posed for a photo with us - we assured him that we had all been very GOOD through the year!

Singout in the Mall....

As we are planning a membership drive to add new members to our ranks in February what better way to increase our public profile than a singout in the Crown Street Mall.

The steps of the church work well as risers and the stall holders are a receptive audience. Lets hope some prespective members are shopping at the markets today.
